Before you begin — what you'll need
Have these ready to make the process smooth. Anything missing can be added later, but you won't be able to receive payouts until identity and payout setup are complete.
- A valid email address and a mobile phone number
- Your legal business name (or your full legal name if you're a sole proprietor)
- A business display name — how customers will see your store
- Business address in Canada (province, city, postal code)
- Government-issued photo ID for identity verification
- A bank account in your (or your business's) name for payouts
- Basic product info: names, prices, categories, and photos
- A store logo and a banner image (optional but recommended)
How it works — step by step
- 1Create your Mopawo account
Sign up with your email and confirm it. You'll start as a customer — you can add the vendor role from your account any time.
- 2Choose 'Become a vendor'
From your account page, select Become a vendor. You'll be taken to vendor onboarding where you set up your store profile.
- 3Submit business registration details
Enter your legal business name, business display name, address, and contact phone number. This is what our team reviews to approve your store.
- 4Wait for admin review
Our team reviews new vendors to keep the marketplace safe. If we need clarification, you'll get an email. You'll also be notified once you're approved.
- 5Complete identity verification
After approval, verify your identity with a government-issued ID. This is required before you can receive payouts.
- 6Set up your payout account
Connect a Canadian bank account so we can send your earnings. Most of your details will be prefilled from what you already submitted.
- 7Add products and open your store
Create categories, upload product photos, set prices and delivery options. When you're ready, publish products and start receiving orders.
Getting paid
Payouts are sent to the Canadian bank account you connect during payout setup. Before you can receive any payout you must complete identity verification and payout setup — both are prefilled from the details you submitted, so it's usually quick.
You'll always see your available balance, upcoming payouts, and full transaction history in your vendor dashboard.
Frequently asked questions
How long does approval take?+
It varies depending on how many applications are in the queue and whether we need to follow up for clarification. Make sure your business details and contact information are accurate to avoid delays.
Do I need a registered business?+
You can start as a sole proprietor using your legal name. If you operate under a registered business, use your legal business name in the registration section and your public store name as the business display name.
Can I change my store's display name later?+
Yes. You can update your Business Display Name from the vendor dashboard. Changes are flagged for a quick admin review to prevent abuse, but your store stays live.
What can't I sell on Mopawo?+
Illegal goods, weapons, regulated substances, and anything that violates our Terms of Service or Canadian law. If you're unsure about a product, contact us before listing it.
Can I also deliver orders as a courier?+
Yes — you can hold both roles on the same account. Once you're a vendor, you can add the courier role from your account page.
What if my application is rejected?+
You'll get an email explaining why. In most cases you can fix the issue (missing info, unclear documents) and resubmit for review.
